Welcome to Hell
Hell really is a place on Earth. In fact is a place on Grand Cayman, not far from Grand Cayman Beach Suites itself.
Hell is a group of short, black, limestone formations located in the West Bay part of the island. The actual limestone formations cover an area of roughly half a soccer pitch and the landscape is desolate, almost lunar.
The precise reason for how this area acquired this name is not known, although it is thought that it stems from either a local official saying "This is what hell must look like", or because the sound of a pebble bouncing around the peaks and valleys sounds like it is making a long descent.
However it got its name, Hell has become a tourist attraction, every road sign pointing to Hell being a photo opportunity. Hell also has a gift shop, a service station and a Hell themed post office, from where you can send postcards from Hell etc.
Visitors are not allowed on to the actual rocks themselves, but there are several viewing platforms.
If Hell is other people, then the tranquillity of Grand Cayman Beach Suites must be close to heaven.
